Contiki: Experiential Travel … It’s What Millennials Want

One of the number one questions I am always asked when I meet with agents is, “how do you come up with new trips?” The answer is we do a lot of research, we survey every single traveler and we look at general trends in the market. Overlaying these 3 things helps us to identify the sweet spot for product development. It will come as no surprise to anyone that travelers are looking for experiences that align with their own passions and hobbies and with smaller groups.

In response to this trend, Contiki launched our first ever Limited Edition Summer Series in Europe for 2017. These trips are a bit more unique, high end, very limited, and verging on hipster (without all the hipsters) and will focus on the ever popular food and photography, plus a trip for the more discerning millennial traveler still looking for a social experience with travel mates their own age. To kick things up another notch, we’ll have food and Instagram influencers on these inaugural trips with our travelers. Introducing… Snap, Munch and Boutique Local. All 3 trip series have a maximum of 25 travelers and will use luxury motor coaches.
I am so excited about these new trips and itineraries, and every agent I have spoken with has given me extremely positive feedback. Boutique Local takes your typical Contiki trip and dresses it up a notch with boutique hotels, chic restaurants & nothing but the best. If your traveler is looking for an experience that’s a little more unique with smaller group (max size 25) & niche activities, this is it. Boutique Local is all about restaurants for the foodiest of foodies, cocktail bar wanderings and neighborhood tours in the coolest parts of Bilbao, Lisbon and Barcelona. Days spent sipping rosé in Porto, exploring the Guggenheim in Bilbao and surfing the Basque coast in San Sebastian.
